Sanitary Materials

What kinds of sanitary materials available?

Your choice of menstrual materials are based on your preferences, however it is important to use the right materials in order to prevent embarrassment or health related issues. Below are some materials you can use, during your menstrual period.

Sanitary Pad

The sanitary pad is the most common type of sanitary material you will find on the market. They absorb the blood and should be disposed off after first use. Wearing them for too long, without changing or re-using old sanitary pads can result in infections and pad rash. Sanitary pads should be disposed off appropriately, in latrine bins and NOT on toilet floors or rubbish tips.

Old Cotton Fabric

This is a more traditional sanitary material and is commonly used in the rural areas. The old cotton fabric is advantageous because of its re-useable nature. However it is important to clean the material properly before re-use.
